The Path to Equality for Women and Young Persons With Disabilities

Women and young people with disabilities face discrimination and barriers when trying to exercise their rights. The Path to Equality for Women and Young Persons With Disabilities: Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Ending Gender-Based Violence is an ENGAGE multimedia presentation that describes the necessary policy changes and investments needed for women and young persons with disabilities to fully realize their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and be protected from gender-based violence (GBV).

Its goal is to enable women and young persons with disabilities to engage policymakers, program planners, and their families and communities to join them as they lead efforts to access their rights, especially in relation to their sexual and reproductive health and protection from GBV perpetrated against them.

The presentation was developed with support from the We Decide Program and the guidance of a global technical advisory group chaired by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Population Reference Bureau, and with researchers, advocates, and representatives from UN agencies, universities, and disabled persons organizations and its supporting materials are tools for professionals involved in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as those engaged in fields of SRHR, GBV prevention and response, disability rights, and gender equality at all levels
in academic, policy, service delivery, and community settings. The target audiences for this presentation include national and subnational policymakers, regional governing bodies, donors, health care providers, law enforcement, the judicial system, and civil society organizations.

The Path to Equality for Women and Young Persons With Disabilities: Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Ending Gender-Based Violence is a 14-minute presentation available as a narrated video and a click-through .exe file for live presentations. It is accompanied by a guide designed to help users make the most of the presentation with a full script, references, key messages with screenshots, FAQs, and a discussion guide that can be used to prompt interaction and dialogue among viewers. The presentation guide is available for use with assistive technology and is also narrated.

Fully accessible versions of the presentation video are embedded below and include closed captioning, American Sign Language, audio descriptions. Additional versions of the presentation guide include one with assistive technology, and one audio narration, also available below.
